About me
I am a PhD student in the Rycroft Group at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Mathematics.
I grew up in Greater Los Angeles, and received my Bachelor's of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bristol in England. As an undergraduate, I interned with the robot operations group in JPL's Student Internship Program, and was a Caltech SURF fellow under Professor Melany Hunt from 2018-2020. I received my Master's of Computational Science and Engineering from Harvard SEAS, where I met Professor Rycroft and wrote a thesis on generating digital twins through simulation based optimization.
In September 2024, I joined Professor Rycroft at UW Madison's Department of Mathematics, where I continue to research digital twins for nonlinear dynamical systems. My research tasks are generally compartmentalized into themes of computational science, fluid mechanics, and Lie theory; working in these fields has brought me to a particular interest in data driven inverse problems for dynamical systems. More specifically, I like learning differential equations from data, and I look for rigorous ways to do so by drawing from ideas across numerical analysis, smooth manifolds, and, if applicable, Bayesian inference. Much of my code involves joining numerical integrators to optimization frameworks, with a goal of reconciling some differential model with noisy/incomplete observations by invoking arguments based on a priori information and low dimensional structure. As a result, I am especially fond of matrix decomposition techniques and compressive sensing, and I write a lot of code applying classical algorithms to new problems.
Besides this stuff, I also love playing volleyball, and in the summers, I am a coach and player for the Boston Hurricanes.
